💞💞💞What is a Gerund? (Gerund क्या है?)

Gerund एक ऐसा शब्द है जो दिखने में तो verb (क्रिया) जैसा होता है लेकिन noun (संज्ञा) की तरह काम करता है।

Gerund को हिन्दी में (क्रियावाचक संज्ञा) कहा जाता हैं।

Gerund हमेशा verb + ing के रूप में होता है और Gerunds को हम इन मुख्य जगहों पर इस्तेमाल करते हैं:

Gerund as the Subject (कर्तव्य के रूप में Gerund)

Gerunds as Objects (कर्म के रूप में Gerund)Use After Certain Verbs

• I enjoy watching movies on weekends.
• मुझे वीकेंड पर फिल्में देखना पसंद है।
• She avoided meeting her boss after the mistake.
• उसने गलती के बाद अपने बॉस से मिलने से बचा।

• They suggested trying a new restaurant for dinner.
• उन्होंने डिनर के लिए नया रेस्टोरेंट ट्राई करने का सुझाव दिया।
• We finished cleaning the house before the guests arrived.
• हमने मेहमानों के आने से पहले घर की सफाई पूरी कर ली।
• He loves spending time with his friends.
• उसे अपने दोस्तों के साथ समय बिताना पसंद है।
• She enjoys painting landscapes during her free time.

 Use After Preposition

Gerund को किसी क्रिया (verb) या प्रीपोज़िशन (preposition) के बाद रखकर object की तरह इस्तेमाल करते है।

• (वह गाने गाने में अच्छी है।)

• She succeeded in solving the problem.

After Certain Expressions + Gerund 

We often use gerunds after certain fixed phrases.

• I can’t stand waiting in long lines.

Use in Negative Sentences + Gerund

• I appreciate your helping me with my homework.
• (मैं तुम्हारा मेरी होमवर्क में मदद करना सराहता हूं।)
• We enjoyed their singing at the party.
