Direct speech क्या है ?
हम सब जानते हैं किसी व्यक्ति द्वारा कही गई बात को बताने के दो तरीके होते हैं ।पहला तरीका तो यह होता है कि हम उसकी कही हुई बात को ज्यों का त्यों बोल दे इसे ही Direct speech कहते हैं।
उसने मुझसे कहा कि मैं बहुत सुंदर हूं
She told me ,”l am very beautiful”
यह Direct speech क्योंकि जिस ढंग में बात की गई थी उसी ढंग से बात बताई गई ।
Note :- Direct speech को लिखते समय inverted commas (“………”)का इस्तेमाल करेंगे ।
Indirect Speech क्या हैं ?
जब वक्ता द्वारा कही हुई बात को हम अपने तरीके से ही बताते हैं उसे Indirect Speech कहते हैं ।
She told me that she was very beautiful.
Note:Indirect Speech में inverted commas का प्रयोग नहीं किया जाता है ।
Note: ज्यों का त्यों inverted commas में जब आप बात को बताते हैं तब Direct Speech का सहारा लेते है जबकि ज्यों का त्यों न बोलकर अपने शब्दों में बोला जाए तब Indirect Speech का सहारा लिया जाता है ।

Direct Speech से Indirect Speech में बदलने के नियम
💕💕Rule 1 – Reporting verb में ‘Present (says) या Future (will say) में है, ’ में हो तो indirect बनाते समय Tense नहीं बदलेगा।
📌 Example (उदाहरण)
✅ Reporting Verb Present या Future में हो:
🔹 Direct: He says, “I am happy.”
🔹 Indirect: He says that he is happy. (Tense नहीं बदला)
🔹 Direct:She says, “I am studying for my exams.”
🔹 Indirect: She says that she is studying for her exams.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह अपनी परीक्षाओं की तैयारी कर रही है।)
🔹Direct: The manager will say, “You are doing great work.”
🔹Indirect: The manager will say that I am doing great work.
💡 (मैनेजर कहेगा कि मैं बहुत अच्छा काम कर रहा हूँ।)
🔹 Direct: He says, “I will join the meeting tomorrow.”
🔹 Indirect: He says that he will join the meeting tomorrow.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह कल मीटिंग में शामिल होगा।)
🔹 Direct: She will say, “I like ice cream.”
🔹 Indirect: She will say that she likes ice cream. (Tense नहीं बदला)
🔹Direct: My brother will say, “I love playing football.”
🔹Indirect: My brother will say that he loves playing football.
💡 (मेरा भाई कहेगा कि उसे फुटबॉल खेलना पसंद है।)
🔹Direct: My friend will say, “I can help you.”
🔹Indirect: My friend will say that he can help me.
🔹Direct: The teacher will say, “Hard work brings success.”
🔹Indirect: The teacher will say that hard work brings success.
💡 (शिक्षक कहेंगे कि कड़ी मेहनत सफलता लाती है।)
💕💕Rule : 2 -‘Reporting Verb Past Tense (said, told, etc.) में है, तो indirect बनाते समय changes किए जाएंगे ।
जैसे किः-

- Present Perfect Tense – Past Perfect Tense

Examples
🔹 Direct: He said, “I play football.”
🔹 Indirect: He said that he played football.
Note : (Reporting speech “Present Indefinite इसे Past Indefinite में बदल दिया ) ऐसे ही ऊपर दिए गए rules के हिसाब से tense को change किया जाएगा।
💡 (वह बोला कि वह फुटबॉल खेलता था।)
🔹 Direct: She said, “I am reading a book.”
🔹 Indirect: She said that she was reading a book.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह एक किताब पढ़ रही थी।)
🔹 Direct: They said, “We have finished our work.”
🔹 Indirect: They said that they had finished their work.
💡 (उन्होंने कहा कि उन्होंने अपना काम पूरा कर लिया था।)
🔹 Direct: He said, “I have been working here for two years.”
🔹 Indirect: He said that he had been working there for two years.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह दो साल से वहाँ काम कर रहा था।)
🔹 Direct: She said, “I bought a new dress.”
🔹 Indirect: She said that she had bought a new dress.
💡 (उसने कहा कि उसने एक नया ड्रेस खरीदा था।)
🔹 Direct: He said, “I was watching TV.”
🔹 Indirect: He said that he had been watching TV.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह टीवी देख रहा था।)
🔹 Direct: They said, “We had completed our project.”
🔹 Indirect: They said that they had completed their project.
याद रखे Past Perfect का वाक्य Reporting Speech में हो तो tense में कोई बदलाव नही किया जाएगा।
💡 (उन्होंने कहा कि उन्होंने अपना प्रोजेक्ट पूरा कर लिया था।)
🔹 Direct: She said, “I had been living in Delhi for five years.”
🔹 Indirect: She said that she had been living in Delhi for five years.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह पाँच साल से दिल्ली में रह रही थी।)
याद रखे Past Perfect continuous का वाक्य Reporting Speech में हो तो tense में कोई बदलाव नही किया जाएगा।

Reporting Verb Past Tense (said, told, etc.) में हो और Reported Speech Future Tense में हो, तो “will” का “would” में और “shall” का “should” में बदलना होगा।
✔ Will → Would
✔ Shall → Should (अगर Suggestion हो तो), वरना Would
✔ Will have → Would have
✔ Shall have → Should have

🔹 Direct: He said, “I will go to Delhi tomorrow.”
🔹 Indirect: He said that he would go to Delhi the next day.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह अगले दिन दिल्ली जाएगा।)
✅ 2. “Shall” → “Should” (Advice या Suggestion)
🔹 Direct: She said, “I shall help my mother.”
🔹 Indirect: She said that she should help her mother.
💡 (उसने कहा कि उसे अपनी माँ की मदद करनी चाहिए।)
✅ 3. “Shall” → “Would” (Future Meaning में)
🔹 Direct: He said, “I shall be happy.”
🔹 Indirect: He said that he would be happy.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह खुश होगा।)
✅ 4. “Will have” → “Would have”
🔹 Direct: She said, “I will have completed my work by evening.”
🔹 Indirect: She said that she would have completed her work by evening.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह शाम तक अपना काम पूरा कर चुकी होगी।)
✅ 5. “Shall have” → “Should have”
🔹 Direct: He said, “I shall have reached by 5 PM.”
🔹 Indirect: He said that he should have reached by 5 PM.
💡 (उसने कहा कि उसे 5 बजे तक पहुँच जाना चाहिए था।)

Reporting Verb Past Tense (said, told, etc.) में हो और Reported Speech में कोई Auxiliary Verb (Can, May, Is, Am, Are, Do, Does, Have, Has, Was, Were, Has to, Have to, etc.) हो।
इस स्थिति में कुछ सहायक क्रियाओं (Auxiliary Verbs) का बदलाव करना पड़ता है।

🔹 Examples (उदाहरण)
✅ 1. “Can” → “Could”
🔹 Direct: She said, “I can solve this problem.”
🔹 Indirect: She said that she could solve that problem.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह यह समस्या हल कर सकती थी।)
✅ 2. “May” → “Might”
🔹 Direct: He said, “I may go to Mumbai next week.”
🔹 Indirect: He said that he might go to Mumbai the following week.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह अगले हफ्ते मुंबई जा सकता है।)
✅ 3. “Is” → “Was”
🔹 Direct: She said, “He is very intelligent.”
🔹 Indirect: She said that he was very intelligent.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह बहुत बुद्धिमान था।)
✅ 4. “Am” → “Was”
🔹 Direct: He said, “I am tired.”
🔹 Indirect: He said that he was tired.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह थका हुआ था।)
✅ 5. “Are” → “Were”
🔹 Direct: They said, “We are playing football.”
🔹 Indirect: They said that they were playing football.
💡 (उन्होंने कहा कि वे फुटबॉल खेल रहे थे।)
✅ 6. “Do” / “Does” → “Did”
🔹 Direct: She said, “I do my homework daily.”
🔹 Indirect: She said that she did her homework daily.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह अपना होमवर्क रोज़ करती थी।)
🔹 Direct: He said, “She does not like tea.”
🔹 Indirect: He said that she did not like tea.
💡 (उसने कहा कि उसे चाय पसंद नहीं थी।)
✅ 7. “Have” / “Has” → “Had”
🔹 Direct: He said, “I have a new bike.”
🔹 Indirect: He said that he had a new bike.
💡 (उसने कहा कि उसके पास एक नई बाइक थी।)
🔹 Direct: She said, “He has a lot of money.”
🔹 Indirect: She said that he had a lot of money.
💡 (उसने कहा कि उसके पास बहुत सारा पैसा था।)
✅ 8. “Was” / “Were” → “Had been”
🔹 Direct: She said, “I was feeling sad.”
🔹 Indirect: She said that she had been feeling sad.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह दुखी महसूस कर रही थी।)
🔹 Direct: They said, “We were watching a movie.”
🔹 Indirect: They said that they had been watching a movie.
💡 (उन्होंने कहा कि वे एक फिल्म देख रहे थे।)
✅ 9. “Has to” / “Have to” → “Had to”
🔹 Direct: He said, “I have to finish this work today.”
🔹 Indirect: He said that he had to finish that work that day.
💡 (उसने कहा कि उसे वह काम आज खत्म करना था।)
🔹 Direct: She said, “He has to wake up early.”
🔹 Indirect: She said that he had to wake up early.
💡 (उसने कहा कि उसे जल्दी उठना था।)

Reporting Verb Past Tense (said, told, etc.) में हो और Reported Speech में “Could, Should, Would, Might” + Verb हो, तो Reported Speech में कोई बदलाव नहीं होगा।
💡 सिर्फ समय, स्थान, और कुछ शब्दों (this → that, here → there, today → that day) में बदलाव होगा, लेकिन Tense नहीं बदलेगा।

🔹 Indirect: He said that he could swim when he was a child.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह बचपन में तैर सकता था।)
✅ “Would” (Past में इच्छा / आदत / संभावना)
🔹 Direct: He said, “I would go to my village every summer.”
🔹 Indirect: He said that he would go to his village every summer.
💡 (उसने कहा कि वह हर गर्मियों में अपने गाँव जाता था।)
✅ “Might” (संभावना / अनिश्चितता)
🔹 Direct: She said, “It might rain today.”
🔹 Indirect: She said that it might rain that day.
💡 (उसने कहा कि आज बारिश हो सकती है।)
✅ “Should” (कर्तव्य / सुझाव)
🔹 Direct: She said, “We should help the needy.”
🔹 Indirect: She said that we should help the needy.
💡 (उसने कहा कि हमें जरूरतमंदों की मदद करनी चाहिए।)

Reported Speech में Universal Truth (सार्वभौमिक सत्य), Habit (आदत), Historical Truth (ऐतिहासिक सत्य), या Proverb (कहावत) हो, तो Indirect Speech में कोई बदलाव नहीं किया जाता।
✔ Tense वही रहता है, सिर्फ समय, स्थान, और कुछ शब्दों में बदलाव होता है।

✔ यदि Reported Speech में “Simple Past Tense या Past Continuous Tense “के दो घटनाओं (Two Actions in the Past) का उल्लेख किया गया हो, तो Indirect Speech बनाते समय Tense में कोई बदलाव नहीं किया जाता।
✔ सिर्फ Pronoun (सर्वनाम), Time (समय), और Place (स्थान) में बदलाव हो सकता है।
